BIOT, FRANCE, June 24, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — The OpenAirInterface Software Alliance (OSA) today announced that NI (formerly known as National Instruments), one of the world’s leading developers of automated test and measurement, joined the organization’s Strategic Council. As a member of the Board of Directors, NI will work with OSA members to advance the development of 6G open interface standards.

“Open source stacks are a key pillar in driving 6G research with OAI leading the community,” said Malay Duggar, Solutions Marketing Manager, NI. “As a leading developer of test and measurement systems, we believe NI can help leverage collective expertise to accelerate research by creating testbeds for open source developers.

6G research spans many industries and applications, including wireless, aerospace, and autonomous driving, to name a few. Creating and using an open stack is helping the industry accelerate the prototyping of 6G technologies. The collaboration between OAI and NI helps the wireless industry by leveraging software-defined radio (SDR) technology and open protocol stacks to enable researchers to quickly take new concepts from mathematical models to benchtops. live test.

“OAI is pleased to welcome NI to its strategic council,” said Irfan Ghauri, OSA’s Chief Operating Officer. “The OpenAirInterface community has used NI’s USRP software-defined radios for several years to build end-to-end 4G and 5G experimental platforms and validate new 4G and 5G technologies. As we move toward disaggregated stacks in 5G/B5G that take advantage of AI/ML techniques involving all layers of the stack, NI’s expertise in developing experimental research platforms will be an even greater enabler. for R&D and validation. All of us here at OSA, along with our research and industry partners, are excited to engage even more strongly with NI as they join the Strategic Council.

About the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance
OSA was founded in 2014 by EURECOM, a research institute in the south of France. The Alliance manages and promotes the open source software OpenAirInterface (OAI) which offers 4G, 5G and B5G RANs as well as core network stacks. OAI software is used by many different organizations around the world for research and testing purposes as well as building system blocks for different 4G/5G use cases, including some industrial ones. Today, AMD, Firecell.io, Fujitsu, InterDigital, Meta Connectivity, National Instruments, Nvidia, Orange, PAWR, Qualcomm, and Sequans Communications are represented on the OSA Board of Directors as strategic members.
