Surface Laptop 3 with AMD processor gets only one driver update

Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 3, released late last year, receives just one new driver update through Windows Update. The update only targets AMD-powered models, which means only mainstream variants of the 15-inch model will see it. The 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Laptop 3 for Business both feature Intel Ice Lake chipsets instead.

Considering that this is just one update, there isn’t a ton of new stuff here. and it’s all about stability.

The AMD-powered Surface Laptop 3 appears to be getting a few more such updates compared to other Surface devices released around the same time. In fact, last month it received another isolated update, but it was a firmware update focused on improving battery life.

While some may have appreciated Microsoft’s decision to add AMD processors to its offerings, many have found the performance somewhat disappointing compared to Intel models. Based on these updates, the stability may not be as good on these models compared to those powered by Intel.
